Job Summary

The position of Captain requires an individual who is a self-starter, highly responsible in nature and is able to give immediate direction to all flight-crew members under his/her command to ensure that every flight is conducted in a safe and efficient manner. The Captain is responsible for the overall management of his/her assigned flights and ultimately for every aspect and detail of company executive transportation under his/her control. It is more than a management position, it is expected and required to be occupied by a person of exceptional leadership skills.

 

Primary Job Duties and Resp. (Essential Functions)

The Captain must maintain high standards of flying proficiency and conduct, which reflect confidence in Travelers Aviation.

  • Responsible for every detail of that trip while making certain that superior customer service is provided to each and every passenger.
  • Coordinates all of the subsequent planning and ultimately the safe and efficient completion of the trip to any destination in the world (FW).
  • Must be proactive in the identification of operational problems and be able to manage any flight procedure error, deviation or any occurrence, which may adversely affect the operation or safety of the flight.
  • Responsible for company assets, valued at up to 28 million dollars.
  • Manages, supervises and directs; other crewmembers, maintenance/administrative personnel, and outside support organizations to ensure the safe, secure, and efficient completion of each trip.
  • Required to maintain training currency in areas such as flight, egress, CPR, defibrillator, international operations, OSHA requirements, water survival and other training is to be performed periodically, on time and as scheduled.
  • The Aviation department Flight Operations Manual contains a list of specific items for which he/she is responsible; i.e. ensure adequate crew rest, document preparation, weather, and airport status.
  • Required to be vigilant and proactive in providing protection against sabotage and hijacking.
  • Once a year will take an FAA First or Second Class Medical examination and provide a copy of that to be included in their individual flight department record.
  • Operations will assign the Captain position to qualified crewmembers, not necessarily the most senior member of the crew.
  • In addition to flight duties this individual can expect to be assigned collateral duties and may be asked to participate in other duties and projects by the Chief Pilot or Director of Aviation.
  • Working as a team will be the primary philosophy on every trip; however, the PIC will bear ultimate responsibility for all of the requirements of the entire trip, such as checking weather, filing flight plans, and arranging ground transportation.

 

Minimum Requirements

  • Will have a minimum of 3,000 hours of pilot time in jet or rotorcraft equipment as applicable and comparable to or exceeding the weight classification of the equipment being operated of which 300 must have been actual instrument time flown.
  • Airline Transport Pilot (ATP) certificate, Airplane, Multi-Engine, Land or Rotorcraft-Helicopter with applicable type rating.
  • Once a year will take an FAA First or Second Class Medical examination and provide a copy of that to be included in their individual flight department record.
  • Airline Transport Pilot (ATP) certificate “with English Proficient” endorsement, Airplane, Multi-Engine, Land or Rotorcraft-Helicopter (as applicable).
  • Will have no major violations or legal enforcements recorded with the FAA.
  • Must be able to operate a Gulfstream G450 and Gulfstream G550.

 

Preferred Education, Work Experience and Knowledge

  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent work experience.
  • Extensive planning and coordination
  • Once a year will take an FAA First or Second Class Medical Examination and provide a copy of that to be included in their individual flight department record.
  • Working as a team will be the primary philosophy on every trip.
